Dr. Jessica Chakowa

Assistant Professor

Biography

After completing my French Baccalauréat, I obtained a Master’s degree in Information and Communication at Université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis in France. I developed a passion for teaching, which led me to teach at Lycée Labourdonnais in Mauritius for six years before relocating to Australia in 2009. To prepare for my arrival, I completed an online Diploma for Teaching French as a Foreign Language at Université Michel de Montaigne. Since coming to Australia, I have taught at various institutions, including Alliance Française de Melbourne, Caulfield Junior College, and Monash University. In 2011, I took on the role of Teaching Coordinator at Alliance Française de Perth, where I created new classes and conducted official language tests. I returned to Monash University in 2012, focusing on enhancing students’ learning experiences through technology. My PhD in Applied Linguistics focused on implementing and evaluating online learning environments for second language acquisition. I continue to engage in various e-learning projects, contributing to the field of online language learning.
