Dr. Alison Porter joined the Languages, Cultures and Linguistics team at the University of Southampton in January 2015. She previously studied for an MA in Applied Linguistics with a focus on Research Methodology and earned her PhD in Modern Languages. Her doctoral thesis investigated the design, implementation, and evaluation of a principled pedagogic approach to the simultaneous teaching of French oracy (speaking and listening) and literacy in primary schools. Alison has experience as an English language teacher (ESL/EFL) for adults, teenagers, and young children in the United Kingdom and Australia. She spent a decade from 2002 to 2012 working as a specialist French teacher in English primary schools.
