Dr. Anna Paradis

Biography

Anna Paradis is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the University of Oxford, where she studies Linguistics and Philology. She graduated from the University of Barcelona with a PhD in Romance Linguistics, focusing on the theoretical syntax within the Centre for Theoretical Linguistics. Her research interests include linguistic variation and the role of Universal Grammar in language restriction. Her teaching experience spans undergraduate courses in Spanish language and linguistics at Trinity College, where she concentrates on grammar and oral skills. Paradis has worked extensively on Multilingualism and Language Policy at the University of Barcelona and has published multiple articles on Romance clitics and control structures. She aims to redefine control understanding in minoritized Romance varieties through her postdoctoral project. Among her selected publications are works in collaboration addressing clitic climbing and language acquisition, which contribute to the understanding of multilingual contexts. Paradis is also invested in developing language pedagogy materials and exploring their implications for language teaching.
