Dr. Anne Edwards

Biography

Anne Edwards is an Emeritus Professor at St Hilda's College, University of Oxford. She joined the Department of Education in 2005, where she held distinguished positions, including Director from January 2010 to December 2012 and was awarded the title of Professor Emerita in October 2014. A fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and the Learned Society of Wales, Anne was also the President of the British Educational Research Association and a Visiting Professor at the University of Oslo from 2007 to 2016. Throughout her career, Anne has been heavily involved in research and evaluation, particularly focusing on cultural-historical approaches to learning and professional development. Her research interests include relational expertise and user engagement in educational contexts, particularly as it pertains to vulnerable children and their families. She has authored and edited numerous influential publications, highlighting the implications of her research on pedagogy and educational practices. She also co-founded OSAT, the Oxford Centre for Sociocultural Activity Theory Research, and sits on various international research advisory boards, contributing to significant global educational research.
