Biography

Beth Maloch is the Senior Associate Dean and Elizabeth Shatto Massey Endowed Chair in Education at the University of Texas at Austin's College of Education. She is also a distinguished professor in Language and Literacy Studies within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Her research focuses on classroom discourse, particularly discussions around text and preservice teacher education. Maloch has an extensive background in coaching and mentoring within teacher education programs, with a special emphasis on the role of cooperating teachers in preservice teacher preparation. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy methods, classroom discourse, and discourse analysis. An active member of professional organizations, she has served on the Board of Directors for the Literacy Research Association and is associated with the American Educational Research Association, the International Reading Association, and the National Council of Teachers of English. Her research contributions include significant publications related to literacy teacher preparation and coaching frameworks in preservice teacher education.
