Dr. Carla Horwitz

Biography

Carla Horwitz is a lecturer at the Yale Child Study Center and the Education Studies Program. With over forty years of experience at Yale University, she is the Director Emerita of the Calvin Hill Day Care Center. Her work has focused on providing high-quality, developmentally informed early childhood education to the Yale community. Carla has taught courses such as Child Development, Language, Literacy Play, and several seminars related to Early Childhood Education. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has a background in researching and implementing progressive curriculum, focusing on the role of play in early education, mentoring teachers, and promoting educational leadership. Previously, she studied educational practices in England and Italy, further enhancing her expertise in early childhood education. Carla holds an Ed.D and has been involved in various professional organizations, including serving on boards dedicated to early childhood development and education. She remains active as a consultant in early childhood programs and educational settings.
