Biography

Caroline Gordon has extensive experience in Primary Education, with a specific focus on primary literacies and language learning. She has led the implementation of the Scottish Government's 1+2 language policy at the local authority level, supporting schools in developing primary language skills. Her work emphasizes meaningful language learning contexts and collaboration among educators. Caroline has developed and delivered professional learning opportunities, designed transition models, and initiated projects that integrate language learning with sport and digital literacy. She has worked with children, families, and schools to create strategies that support learning English as an Additional Language (EAL), focusing on language literacy practices within the curriculum and fostering an environment that values the diverse cultures and languages that students bring to the classroom. In addition, Caroline has been involved in Erasmus-funded initiatives, designing and leading English immersion courses for teachers in Edinburgh, Ireland, and Spain, with an emphasis on developing English language skills and teaching methodologies. She is engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including courses in BA Primary Education and the PGDE Primary, particularly in literacy and pluriliteracies.
