Biography

Cary Campbell is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University, specializing in educational theory and music education. He completed his SSHRC-funded PhD in Arts Education at SFU in 2020. With over a decade of experience as a music educator and ensemble director, Cary holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from 2013. He is a member of the Online Learning Hub Faculty, focusing on creating engaging online learning experiences. His research interests include biosemiotic and post-digital post-humanist theory, addressing educational challenges posed by mass digitization and climate change. Cary is an active musician dedicated to examining music learning and cognition, committed to innovative arts-based research methodologies. He also serves as the Director of Research for the BC Society and collaborates with educators and community members to develop curriculum resources. Additionally, he has held editorial roles and is currently an associate editor for the Journal of Contemplative and Holistic Education and editor for the CS Peirce Section of the Chinese Semiotic Studies journal.
