Dr. Chris Gabrieli

Biography

Chris Gabrieli is an Adjunct Lecturer at Harvard Graduate School of Education. He has a diverse background in education policy, entrepreneurship, and venture capital. Gabrieli serves as the chairman of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and is the CEO of Empower Schools, which focuses on partnering with communities and states to re-engineer educational systems to create empowered schools. He co-founded Transforming Education, an initiative that works with educators and education systems to incorporate a full range of competencies, including intrapersonal and interpersonal non-cognitive skills into educational policy and practice. Additionally, Gabrieli is a leader in the national movement to expand learning time in schools, particularly those serving disadvantaged students, ensuring they have adequate time for both academics and a well-rounded education. He is the author of the book "Time to Learn" and has co-authored various articles on education policy related to cognitive and non-cognitive competencies. Gabrieli has also had a successful career in entrepreneurship, founding a healthcare software company and serving as a long-term partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, where he is now a partner emeritus.
