Biography

Cristina Delgado Vintimilla is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at York University, specializing in pedagogical thought and childhood education. Her research interests focus on ethical questions surrounding pedagogical practices and the concept of subjectivity within educational settings. Cristina's work challenges prevailing instrumental-managerial logics in education, advocating for a shift towards pedagogies that recognize human interconnectedness. With a particular emphasis on the intersection of pedagogy and the arts, she explores innovative educational practices that reflect on the lived experiences of children, thereby recontextualizing the curriculum to include both tangible and intangible aspects of learning. Cristina is currently the principal investigator on various grants, including the SSHRC Insight Development Grant, which aims to develop educational methodologies to amplify young children's voices in mitigating climate change injustices in Andean communities. She also serves as co-director of the Pedagogists Network of Ontario and has published extensively on curriculum theory, ethics, and early childhood education.
