Dr. Frank Pignatosi

Biography

Frank Pignatosi is a Clinical Associate Professor at New York University Steinhardt, where he serves as Vice-Chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning. With over a decade of experience as Director of Clinical Studies at the institution, Pignatosi has been instrumental in developing partnerships with schools to enhance teacher education programs. His role includes supervising faculty in the field and providing professional development support. Pignatosi has participated on multiple advisory committees and task forces within New York State, focusing on improving teacher preparation and retention, especially in urban education contexts. Prior to returning to New York City, he worked in language schools across Europe, where he developed innovative methods and materials for training new language teachers. He earned his doctorate in English Education from New York University in 2005, completing a study that examined the impact of narrative traditions on early literacy. His current focus lies in coaching and mentoring pre-service teachers and enhancing their clinical experiences during early induction periods.
