Dr. Hui Chuan Li

Biography

Hui-Chuan (Jane) Li is a Lecturer in Mathematics Education at the University of Edinburgh, where she has been a faculty member since 2018. Her research interests center around mathematics learning and teaching in primary and secondary education, with a particular focus on classroom interaction and teacher professional development. Jane has over ten years of experience as a high school mathematics teacher and earned her PhD in Education from the University of Cambridge in 2015. Her doctoral studies involved examining the international comparative perspectives on curriculum impacts on students' opportunities to learn mathematics. Prior to her appointment at Edinburgh, she served as a Lecturer in Mathematics Education at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, where she also supervised master's and doctoral courses. Additionally, Jane is actively involved in curriculum materials design and development, social constructivism in teaching, assessment strategies, and postgraduate supervision in mathematics education. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and Applications and frequently reviews submissions for several leading mathematics education journals.
