Jean Lee serves as the Director of Teacher Education in the Department of Education Studies at the University of California, San Diego. With prior experience as a Professor and Director of Accreditation Assessment at the University of Indianapolis, Dr. Lee holds a B.A. in Pure Mathematics and an M.Ed. from the University of California, San Diego, as well as a Ph.D. in Curriculum Instruction from Indiana University. Her career in education began as a secondary mathematics teacher in San Diego, a profoundly meaningful part of her professional journey. Her research interests focus on project-based learning, preparing teachers for high-need urban schools, and improving the recruitment and retention of STEM educators. Dr. Lee is PBL-certified and has led numerous professional development initiatives for teachers both nationally and internationally. She currently serves as a co-principal investigator on the NSF-funded Get Facts project, a national initiative aimed at improving the recruitment of STEM teachers. She has co-edited several works on project-based learning, including books and journal issues related to integrated STEM education.
