Dr. Jesse Rathgeber

Biography

Jesse Rathgeber, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at the Mead Witter School of Music, University of Wisconsin-Madison. With extensive teaching experience at institutions such as Augustana College and James Madison University, he has developed and taught a range of music education courses, including assessments, general music methods, and technology integration in music. Jesse's work emphasizes collaborative research in areas related to disability, inclusion, critical pedagogies, and music teacher development. He plays an active role in music education communities, having founded projects like AugiePlay and JMUke, and has contributed to various journals and edited texts focused on music education. An advocate for inclusive practices, he also serves on several committees and held leadership positions within the National Association for Music Education.
