Biography

Jessica L. Sturm is an Associate Professor in the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University, specializing in French Language Acquisition and Teacher Education. She completed her Ph.D. in French at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research focuses on second language (L2) pronunciation and classroom language acquisition, particularly through the use of technology in L2 classrooms and the cultural lens of sports in teaching languages. Jessica has a passion for engaging students in the culture associated with the French language, seeing them succeed in their goals, and facilitating their applications for Fulbright English Teaching Assistantships abroad. She teaches various courses including French Pronunciation, French Food Culture, and French Sports Culture, and is looking forward to introducing a new undergraduate certificate in World Food Cultures. Outside of her academic pursuits, Jessica enjoys reading, watching films, playing tennis, and traveling, and she has a fondness for her four cats.
