Biography

John McNamara is a Professor and educational psychologist specializing in literacy and reading disabilities in young children. His current research focuses on developing and implementing literacy intervention programs in collaboration with various agencies in the province. He leads the LD Research Team, overseeing multiple applied research projects aimed at understanding reading disabilities. Dr. McNamara is the principal investigator for the SSHRC Insight Grant-funded initiative, 'Reading Rocks,' which provides a literacy approach to support and motivate vulnerable readers. His work emphasizes the importance of early identification and intervention for children with language learning disabilities, aiming to address neurological and environmental risk factors associated with dyslexia and improve developmental health outcomes.
