Biography

Joyce L. Epstein is a Professor and Co-Director of the Center for School, Family, and Community Partnerships at Johns Hopkins University School of Education. She has been instrumental in the establishment of the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS), dedicated to researching and promoting family engagement in education. Epstein's extensive publication record includes notable works such as 'School, Family, Community Partnerships: Handbook for Action' and 'Preparing Educators to Improve Schools'. Additionally, she co-founded the International Network of Scholars for School, Family, and Community Partnerships, facilitating collaboration among researchers worldwide to address issues related to family and community engagement in education. An elected Fellow of the American Educational Research Association, she has received the Elizabeth Cohen Distinguished Career Award, highlighting her significant contributions to the field of applied sociology in education.
