Dr. Julia Millán Gómez

Biography

Julia Millán Gómez is a lecturer in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Yale University. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics with a minor in Applied Linguistics at Texas Tech University. Julia holds two Master’s degrees: one in Romance Languages and another in Event Organization and Business Tourism, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpretation specializing in Spanish, English, and Arabic. Her teaching and research endeavors are firmly rooted in applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, phonetics, phonology, language acquisition, and heritage language education. Julia has extensive experience in developing pedagogical materials for teaching Spanish to diverse student populations both in the United States and abroad. Her work serves as a bridge between linguistic theory and classroom practice, with a particular focus on multilingualism, language ideologies, and cross-cultural communication.
