Biography

Leanne Wu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2020), a Master’s (2010), and a Bachelor’s (2003) from the same institution. Her research focuses on Computer Science Education, investigating the impact of curriculum and instructional design on learners as well as exploring areas such as academic integrity, project-based learning, and meta-cognition in computer science. She has participated in several strategic initiatives at the university level to enhance experiential learning through data science-related projects. Her work is supported by various grants, including a Teaching and Learning Grant for research on academic integrity in computer science. Dr. Wu is also active in supervising thesis-based graduate students, particularly in areas related to artificial intelligence and machine learning. In addition to her academic work, she has received several awards including the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship and the Grace Hopper Celebration Faculty Scholarship. She is dedicated to improving educational practices in the field of computer science through innovative teaching methods and research.
