Biography

Lee Teitel is a retired lecturer at Harvard Graduate School of Education, with a focus on educational leadership, equity, and school system improvement. Over decades at HGSE, Teitel taught courses on leadership, partnerships, organizational change, and leading diversity. He was the founding director of the Executive Leadership Program for Educators, collaborating with Harvard's Graduate School of Education, Business School, and Kennedy School to support urban high-need districts. Teitel led HGSE's School Leadership Program for eight years, emphasizing racial equity, which helped increase the number of students of color graduating as principals. He co-developed the widely utilized Instructional Rounds practice and co-authored key publications related to it. His work includes developing equity-focused leadership networks and conducting workshops on race equity. He has also participated in strategies for depolarization and has co-facilitated networks that foster constructive disagreement.
