Dr. Leslie Siskin

Biography

Leslie Santee Siskin is a noted sociologist with research primarily focused on high schools. Her work examines various aspects of educational systems, including departmental organization, interdisciplinary experiments, high-stakes testing, and comprehensive school reforms such as America's Choice and the International Baccalaureate. Currently, she is investigating the introduction and implementation of online and blended learning environments in secondary education. Siskin has authored or co-authored numerous articles and books discussing topics such as academic departments in secondary schools and accountability measures in high schools, including her notable works 'Realms of Knowledge: Academic Departments in Secondary Schools' and 'Subjects of Question: Departmental Organization in High School.' She has also served as a fellow at Columbia University and Cambridge University and has held the position of Associate Professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, as well as at Hofstra University prior to her tenure at New York University.
