Dr. Louis Major

Biography

Louis Major is a Senior Lecturer in Digital Education at the Manchester Institute of Education (MIE). His research focuses on the role of digital technology in future education, emphasizing design to enhance educational dialogue and address educational disadvantage. He co-leads the Digital Technologies, Communication and Education Research and Scholarship group at the University of Manchester. He serves as an editor for the British Journal of Educational Technology (BJET) and has authored the book 'Theory of Educational Technology: Dialogic Foundation Design' (Routledge, 2024). Major's work with the EdTech Hub explores how AI can personalize learning assessments, particularly in low-income countries, integrating design-based research with randomized control trial methodologies. He has held positions at the University of Cambridge, co-founding the Digital Education Futures Initiative, and has led various projects investigating technology's impact on education, focusing on diverse areas including gaming development and microblogging for classroom dialogue.
