Biography

Malama Tsimenis holds a Ph.D. in 19th century French literature from the University of Montreal. Before joining the University of Toronto, she taught at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and the University of San Diego (USD). Over the past nine years, she has been teaching at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) and has been recognized for her commitment to undergraduate teaching through various awards and nominations. Tsimenis conducts seminars and leads workshops on pedagogical issues for faculty and graduate students, working closely with the Teaching Assistants’ Training Program at UTSC and the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation at the St. George campus. She also collaborates with teaching assistants and serves as the coordinator for language courses. Her research interests include literary criticism, prefatory discourse, aesthetic theory, and innovative pedagogy, especially as it relates to experiential learning, interactive assessment tools, and blended teaching.
