Biography

Marcus Specht is a Professor of Digital Education at the Technical University of Delft and serves as the Director of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Center for Education and Learning. He is also a Professor of Learning Technologies at the Welten Institute of the Open University. After receiving his diploma in Psychology in 1995, he completed his dissertation at the University of Trier in 1998, focusing on adaptive information technology. In 2001, he led the department "Mobile Knowledge" at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT). From 2005 to 2018, he was a Professor of Learning Technologies at the Open University of the Netherlands and Head of the Learning Innovation Lab. His research interests include mobile contextualized learning technologies and social immersive media learning. Specht has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educator and served as the President of the International Association for Mobile Learning from 2013 to 2015.
