Biography

Margarita Groeger is a Senior Lecturer Emerita at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who joined the institution in 1994 after serving as a Senior Lector at Yale University. Her main focus in language teaching is to enable students to explore the social and cultural diversity within Spanish-speaking communities while improving their language skills. Her research interests center around language pedagogy and instructional material design, particularly in relation to the use of technology, digital tools, games, and simulations in language education. Over the years, Groeger has received several fellowships and grants aimed at developing interactive multimedia projects and online materials for language teaching and learning. She has been recognized with the Levitan Award for Excellence in Teaching from the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, as well as the Academic Infinite Mile Award for Service from MIT and Mentor of the Year Awards from the MIT Office of Minority Education between 2013 and 2016.
