Biography

Marie-Claire Shanahan has dedicated her career to expanding the boundaries of science and engineering education. Her research primarily focuses on the themes of belonging and identities within science and technology for youth and adults, particularly in non-conventional spaces and communities. Shanahan's current research encompasses a variety of topics, including the integration of coding and digital arts. She received the Paul D. Shanahan has previously served as a Research Chair in Science Education and Public Engagement and has extensive experience as both a middle school and high school science and mathematics teacher. She actively participates in science education and communication communities and serves as a subject editor for leading journals in the field. Her work embodies a commitment to enhancing science education through innovative teaching practices and community engagement.
