Biography

Michelle Honeyford is a Professor in Language Literacy at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Education. Her research focuses on language literacies deeply enmeshed in collaborative pedagogical inquiries committed to social justice, equity, diversity, and anti-oppressive practices in curriculum, teaching, and learning. She draws on sociomaterial, transcultural, decolonial, multimodal, and critical theories, with current projects exploring post-qualitative sociomaterial practitioner inquiry methodologies, place-writing, and assessment. As a co-founding director of the Manitoba Writing Project, she passionately works with teacher candidates to design innovative, interest-driven afterschool programs for middle and high school students. Prior to her academic role, she taught English Language Arts for grades 7-12 across the U.S. and Canada. Her research has been published in prominent journals such as the Journal of Literacy Research and Pedagogies: An International Journal.
