Biography

Rachel Elmslie is a lecturer at the University of Glasgow specializing in Modern Foreign Languages. Her research interests encompass academic literacies, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), curriculum design, project-based learning, classroom interaction, and speaking in academic contexts. Rachel actively engages in teaching and supervision, including roles such as mentoring MEd TESOL students and providing instruction in year-round pre-sessional English as well as the International Bridging Programme for Masters in Accounting and Finance. She has presented at conferences, notably on evaluating student projects that support transitions to postgraduate study. She is currently pursuing a PhD at Lancaster University, adding to her qualifications which include a Master of Education in English Language Teaching from the University of Glasgow and the Cambridge DELTA and CELTA certifications. Rachel’s academic background is further complemented by a Master of Arts with Honours in Sociology and Politics, also from the University of Glasgow.
