Dr. Rebecca Bull

Biography

Rebecca Bull is a distinguished academic at Macquarie University, serving as a Professor in the Early Childhood Education Research Centre. Her research is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, integrating methods and theories from education, cognitive science, and psychology. Her primary area of focus is early childhood development, specifically how young children understand number quantity and the foundational skills often referred to as number sense that support their growth in mathematical abilities. She examines cognitive skill development, working memory, and self-regulation in children, contributing to both typical and atypical developmental trajectories. Additionally, Rebecca has conducted significant research involving children and adults with hearing loss, with a keen interest in investigating the impacts of synchronous multisensory information on numerical understanding. Her work emphasizes the importance of both home and classroom environments in shaping children's learning and development.
