Biography

Sandra Cronhamn holds a PhD in general linguistics, with a doctoral thesis that investigated the classifier system of the Baniwa, an Arawakan language spoken in Northwestern Brazil. Currently, she is engaged in a postdoctoral project funded by the Swedish Research Council, which explores the role of classifiers in landscape categorization and Baniwa in a cross-linguistic context. Her research interests encompass language description and documentation, linguistic diversity, historical linguistics, language contact, typology, and language cognition, with a particular focus on nominal classification systems in Amazonian languages. Over the past five years, she has collaborated on significant research projects and has been involved in various academic activities, including lectures and conference presentations.
