Biography

Simin Sasani is a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Southampton, specializing in English Language Teaching. She completed her PhD in English Language Teaching at the University of Sheffield, focusing on non-native ESOL teachers' attitudes towards intercultural competence. With a ten-year teaching career, including roles as a senior lecturer at International College Portsmouth, Sasani has extensive experience in teaching research methods and academic skills. Her current research interests include the impact of globalization and glocalization on English language teaching, particularly regarding linguistic transfer in L1 and L2 contexts. Additionally, she explores non-native teachers’ perceptions of their intercultural competence and the communicative values inherent in online remote learning environments. She has collaborated on research projects and is an active member of the Centre for Global Englishes, contributing to innovation in ELT methodologies.
