Biography

Solomon Cytrynbaum is Professor Emeritus in the School of Education and Social Policy and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University. He served as dean of the School of Education and Social Policy and is currently the associate director for Graduate Education and Training at the Center for Applied Psychological and Family Studies. Cytrynbaum has published extensively on organizational life and group intergroup relations, and co-edited the recent book 'Group Dynamics, Organizational Irrationality, and Social Complexity' with Professor Debra Noumair from Columbia University. He teaches graduate seminars in dynamic personality theory and group dynamics consultation. His current research focuses on organizational conflict consultation, particularly within family-owned businesses. Over the past 30 years, he has conducted numerous evaluative studies and consultations for large school districts and for-profit organizations. Appointed to boards of educational, mental health, and business organizations, he is a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in psychotherapy and organizational consultation. Cytrynbaum began his academic career at Northwestern in 1977 after serving on the faculty at Yale University from 1969 to 1977.
