Biography

Vicky Wright holds a degree in Modern Languages and a PGCE. She has spent several years teaching French and German in secondary schools in the UK before transitioning to teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. With an MA in Education with a focus on Applied Linguistics from the University of Southampton, she has taught EFL and conducted development research projects in the domain of language teaching and learning at the Language Centre of Southampton and the Centre for Language Study. Her teaching and research interests center around innovation in language teaching, learner, and teacher autonomy. This concept includes setting personal learning and professional goals, as well as taking responsibility for one's own actions and objectives. Vicky supervises PhD students and is actively involved in promoting language learning strategies at the University of Southampton and throughout the UK. She serves as Vice-Chair of the University Council of Modern Languages, representing language learning and teaching at the national level, and chairs a committee focused on enhancing collaboration between schools and universities to address the decline in foreign language learners in UK educational institutions.
