Biography

Zhiqiong Chen is a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Warwick's Language Centre, specializing in Mandarin education. Born in China, Zhiqiong completed their MSc degree in engineering before transitioning into the educational industry in Beijing. In the UK, after earning an MA in Educational Management from Warwick University, they undertook a one-year training course to qualify for teaching Mandarin. Since joining the Language Centre in 2005, Zhiqiong has taught a range of Mandarin modules, including academic lifelong learning levels and serves as the coordinator for this program. Their primary focus is on teaching while also being deeply interested in pedagogical research, enhancing student engagement, and leveraging blended and flipped learning approaches alongside teaching technology. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, Zhiqiong has worked as an AL consultant for the Open University, delivering both face-to-face and online tutorials and designing online assessments. They also co-authored online teaching and learning materials and served as a final exam marker.
