Jennifer Lock grew up in Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Saskatchewan where she completed her Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees, later earning a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration. In 2004, Jennifer received her Doctorate in Philosophy specializing in Educational Technology from the University of Calgary. Dr. Lock has experience both as a school administrator and teacher across the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta. She has taught in the Teacher Education Program at Aurora College in Northwest Territories and has worked as a Coordinator for Distance Education Technology at Aurora College before moving to Calgary to pursue her doctoral studies. Currently, Dr. Lock teaches in undergraduate and graduate programs at the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary. She is affiliated with several professional organizations including the American Educational Research Association, Canadian Network for Innovation Education, Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education, and Canadian Society for the Study of Education. Dr. Lock’s research focuses on five key areas: E-learning, technology integration in education, change and innovation in educational settings, educational development and scholarship in higher education, and experiential learning particularly related to makerspaces.
