Biography

Lauren Boath has a background in higher education and is a senior lecturer in education (Physics) at the University of Glasgow. She completed her physics degree at the University of Strathclyde and her teacher education (PGCE in physics and science) at the University of Dundee. With a focus on STEM education, Dr. Boath was involved in national level developments in sciences for ages 3-18 through the STEM Central project and also contributed to the creation of new National Qualifications in the sciences. She earned her PhD in science education from Trinity College, Dublin, where her research involved a children’s rights-based approach to understanding children's learning in science, encompassing 1,100 children across various schools in Scotland. In her current role, Dr. Boath oversees the development of beginning qualified teachers and has leadership responsibilities for Initial Teacher Education (ITE) undergraduate portfolios. She is also involved in supervising PhD students and has contributed to numerous scholarly presentations and professional activities related to teacher education and science learning.
