Dr. Sara Krzyzaniak

Biography

Sara Marie Krzyzaniak is a Clinical Professor in Emergency Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and serves as the Program Director for the Stanford Emergency Medicine Residency. She has held progressive leadership roles in undergraduate, graduate, and medical education, completing her residency training in Emergency Medicine at Denver Health Medical Center. Before joining Stanford, Dr. Krzyzaniak was a faculty member at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Her scholarly work emphasizes medical education, focusing particularly on gender equity, assessment and feedback, and faculty development in leadership training within academic medicine. She has authored over forty peer-reviewed publications and contributed multiple book chapters in the Education Theory Made Practical series. Dr. Krzyzaniak is actively involved in teaching and mentoring across various stages of medical education, holding administrative, curricular, and clinical teaching responsibilities. She serves on numerous institutional and national committees and is an editorial board member and ad hoc reviewer for multiple journals in emergency medicine and medical education. Her contributions to leadership and education have been recognized with several national awards for excellence in teaching and mentorship. Dr. Krzyzaniak is dedicated to advancing the training of future emergency physicians and strengthening the academic mission of emergency medicine.
