Biography

Guilherme Lichand is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University's Graduate School of Education. His research focuses on addressing educational inequities in the Global South and exploring solutions to overcome these challenges. He serves as the co-director of the Stanford Lemann Center and is a faculty affiliate of the Stanford King Center on Global Development and the Stanford Center on Early Childhood. Guilherme earned his PhD in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University and previously held a position at UNICEF as a Professor of Child Well-being and Development at the University of Zurich. He is also a co-founder of Movva, a Brazilian EdTech initiative that supports vulnerable students in their pursuit of higher education. His innovative approach to education has earned him recognition, such as being named one of the top-10 Brazilian social entrepreneurs by the Schwab Foundation in 2020 and one of MIT Technology Review's top under-35 Brazilian innovators in 2014. Guilherme's work has been published in many esteemed scientific journals, including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) and Nature Human Behavior. His campaigns have received multiple accolades, culminating in awards at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
